Hailing from Lindsay, Ont., four piece rock band The Kents will be playing at North by Northeast (NXNE) Port Lands music festival on June 25.

The band's debut EP Waking (released in June 2016) explores love, loss, family and the struggles one faces when growing up. A year after their first release, The Kents are already headed back to the studio to record their next EP that sees the band take more artistic risks.

Despite being a new band, The Kents have made their mark, sharing the stage for sold-out shows with The Trews, The Strumbellas, The Elwins and Hollerado.

The band is pumped to be performing at NXNE this year and say that they are most excited to be sharing the bill with Passion Pit and Twin Peaks as well as local bands Lost Cousins and Midday Swin.

"It's a cool range of people we know and bands that we know from afar," said lead singer Warren Frank.

Watch The Kents play live at NXNE this Sunday at 2:20 p.m. on the Canal stage. You can expect to hear some of their new stuff as well as one track off their previous EP.

The interview below aired on Arts & Culture on the Morning Mixtape, hosted by Nicole Di Donato. In the interview, they talked about the band's new sound, their forthcoming EP as well as their show at NXNE.
