The Bill Murray Stories: Life Lessons Learned from a Mythical Man
Reporting on Bill Murray is like jazz. He shows up, he has fun, and just like that, he is gone. True? Yes. Weird? Up to you.
Tommy Avallon didn’t get it, and so he made a film about it. He wanted answers so he called Bill Murray’s 1-800 number, but he couldn’t get the words out. So, his mom called the 1-800 number. But Bill never called back.
Why does Bill do what he does? Why did he read poetry to the construction workers at the construction of a poetry library in New York? Why did he show up and wash the dishes at somebody’s random party in the UK?
Does any of it matter?
Bill only does what he wishes people would do for him. Are you awake yet?
You can try to control the experience, or you can just join in.
The Bill Murray Stories: Life Lessons Learned from a Mythical Man screens on Saturday May 5 at 3:30 PM at the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema and Sunday, May 6 at 10:00 AM at TIFF Bell Lightbox.
The Return screens on Sunday May 6 at 6:15PM at the Scotiabank theatre.
