Field Trip 2017: Royal Canoe Interview02 June 2017 / by Nicole Di Donato (author)
Their album Something Got Lost Between Here and the Orbit explores the feeling of being home sick and the longing for human connection. The band is known for creating catchy pop songs with sharp, meaningful lyrics that move people both emotionally and physically.
Matthew Peters of Royal Canoe said they will be bringing out Winnipeg singer-songwriter Begonia during their Field Trip show to perform a new single they collaborated on and will be releasing in the near future. Royal Canoe will also play some of their older music, including tracks off their latest album.
Peters says the band is excited to be performing alongside Thundercat, BADBADNOTGOOD and Feist.
"What I like about [Field Trip] is that there's not 500 bands, it's pretty streamlined and so they're able to curate a pretty specific set of sounds."
Watch Royal Canoe's live show at 4:40 p.m. on the Fort York stage.
