CJRU is committed to airing the voices of our community especially those that may not find space in mainstream media. These are some of our programs with a focus on social justice and empowerment that are produced at CJRU:

FEMRADIO

FemRadio is produced by CJRU’s Feminist Radio Collective. A woman’s place is on the radio!

WORD ON THE STREET

PERFECTLY QUEER

LIVE WITH JUANITA

Live with Juanita is imagined as a space for the marginalized, discredited, and/or disenfranchised communities to share their social justice efforts, activism, and campaigns.

We also air programs produced at campus and community stations across the country:

WINGS

WINGS: Women's International News Gathering Service is an award-winning weekly half-hour radio program by and about women around the world.

LATIN WAVES

Latin Waves was born in 2005 when Sylvia Richardson’s passion for social change hit the radio air waves. The show was started as a resource to educate the public about the extraordinary changes and social movements that are happening in Latin America, there is a literal blackout in the Canadian main stream media around these historic changes.

As well as:

DEMOCRACY NOW!

A daily, global, independent news hour anchored by award-winning journalists Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez. Democracy Now! presents daily headlines followed by in-depth discussions from a rich diversity of people and perspectives rarely heard from in mainstream media,

We’re always looking for new programs and programmers who want to make radio for a cause. If there’s something missing (and there are always things missing) from our program lineup help us make it! Come to Spoken Word training and get your voice and others on the radio!
